Flowers of the Canadian Rockies around Spray Lake – Cycling the Great Divide, Canada.

Cycling the Great Divide from Banff to Sparwood the sides of the tracks are ablaze with flowers. I have included a selection here. They are not particularly rare, it is just the density along the side of the tracks that is impressive.

Cornus canadensis – Bunchberry. Amazingly these have the fastest moving flower parts in the world!  It flings its pollen at a rate of 24,000 m/s.  They carpeted the floor of the woodlands we cycled through.
